TOPICS - Benzene

Benzene is a colorless liquid that evaporates into the air very quickly and dissolves slightly in water. It is highly flammable. Benzene is an industrial solvent and is used in the production of many plastics, rubber and dyes. Long term benzene exposure can cause leukemia, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

Those involved in synthetic rubber production, refinery work, pesticide manufacturing, oil work, newspaper press work, gasoline distribution work and adhesive production work are at an increased risk for injury related to benzene exposure.
